In Each Others Keeping

“Their happiness was in each others keeping, and both were unafraid.† L.M. Montgomery

My daughter and son-in-law met in a summer Shakespeare class and their love for each other plus a shared love of books led to a literary themed wedding. We had a vision of creating a beautiful celebration without spending a fortune and so began doing much of the work ourselves. This included our choice to do our own flowers. When my daughter picked out her dress, we knew that an antique/romantic feel was what we wanted and that baby’s breath, peonies and garden roses would be ideal. The colors were blush pink and peach, with a white arbor, chairs and tablecloths and draping chiffon accents. It all came together wonderfully and the antique roses sent as a substitution for some of our Juliet roses were actually our favorites. The colors we selected were even complimented by a stunning rainbow that blessed us after a short rain shower.
It did take quite a bit of time to complete the arrangements and fill all of the antique items we’d collected for the tables. We had bridesmaids, family and friends helping the night before and this was a fun way to be together. The flowers arrived in great condition and were long lasting. One thing that caused some stress was my hesitation to put out the aisle and entry bouquets (they were not in water) until the last moment but they held up well and this could have been done sooner. All of our hard work was worth it to see our vision come to life and these beautiful flowers added so much.
Few things are as satisfying as creating and this was a perfect opportunity to use our talents and make this celebration our own. Everything we did ourselves added meaning and memories and let us feel like authors in the writing of this cherished wedding day chapter in our lives.

David Austin Rose Peach Juliet Ausgameson is a dazzling warm peach rose with a rounded, cup shape bloom.
