Forsythia is shipped directly from our farms. Before shipping your forsythia, we prepare them for shipment with proper hydration methods. It is absolutely NORMAL if your forsythia appears sleepy and thirsty after their journey. Simply follow these instructions:
- Upon arrival, open the box and inspect your branches. Remove the Forsythia Branches from the plastic bag.
- If your branches have really closed blooms, submerge your branches in water overnight and the next day re-cut and put in water.
- You may need to pound the ends of the branches with a hammer after cutting to help them bloom faster and for better water absorption.
- Soon after cutting the ends of the branches, place them in a bucket with about 5 inches of water. Remove any blooms that would fall below the water line to prevent bacteria growth, which can shorten the life of the flowers.
- It is important to monitor the bloom stage of the branches so they are perfect for your wedding date. If they are tighter than you desire, keep in a warm room around 75 degrees. If they are at a stage you like, then hold them back by keeping them in cool room with no direct sunlight.
- Change the water every 24 to 48 hours and maintain a good water level in the bucket.
